We were asked to do a interview for a T-Shirt book with the Spainish Monsa Design Publisher. The following interview will be published worldwide in autuum this year.
Here is the full interview:
Why t-shirts?
I don´t know just happend to be shirts. But now it is much more: caps, buttons, bags and so on. I think I liked the idea of people wearing my stuff. Before that I designed 2D stuff like websites, businesscards and so on because I’m a communication designer. So I don’t feel like designing fashion but designing graphics on shirts. I also like to experiment with appliques (like duster i.e.) , stitching techniques (cross stitch i.e.) when I design a new shirt.
What was the first t-shirt you’ve designed?
That was a printed T-Shirt in school when I was about 8 years old for a summer party. The first design I made for SILBERFISCHER was the butcher’s cow because I thought it would be a good icon for our consuming society.
What are you wearing right now?
Pink and black striped sweater with one of our cross stitched bomb buttonies on it and a normal jeans.
A famous person you would like to design a tee…
I wish I had the time to design stuff for my two children. I`m not interested in designing stuff for famous people. I’m always happy to see just normal people on the streets wearing my designs. That’s what makes me proud.
A message you would like to spread with a t-shirt…
Keep your eyes and mind wide open.
